What is an accredited exercise physiologist?

An accredited exercise physiologist (AEP) is an expert in the delivery of exercise and movement interventions in the management of injury. At Sydney Muscle & Joint Clinic Penrith our accredited exercise physiologists excel in exercise management of all musculoskeletal injury, workplace injury and numerous chronic conditions such as COPD, diabetes and obesity.

For an accredited exercise physiologist to practice, they must complete a 4-year bachelor degree from a National University Course Accredited Program. They must also work under the code of ethics and complete continuing professional development.

The aims of exercise physiology interventions, such as education and advice, strength, endurance and mobility exercises, are to prevent or manage acute and chronic conditions, injuries or disease. These interventions are primarily exercise-based and include guideline-based and evidence-based management.
