At Sydney Muscle & Joint Physio Penrith our physiotherapists manage all joint, muscle, ligament and tendon sports injuries conditions. Our physiotherapists use up-to-date assessment and treatment protocols to reduce pain, improve strength and return you to the sporting field. Common sports injuries that our Penrith physios see include ankle sprains, calf strains, Achilles tendinopathy, knee ligament, meniscus and ACL injuries, hip FAI impingements, anterior knee pain (PFPS) and many others.

Phase 1 - Reduce irritability of pain, reduce swelling, weight bear as tolerated.

Our physiotherapists use heat, ice massage (to reduce arthrogenic muscle inhibition), soft tissue work and joint mobilisations. The main goal here is protection of the injury whilst we initiate early loading procedures - passive range of motion, active range of motion, isometric contractions, balance proprioceptive training.

Phase 2 - Increase strength, increase load.

Our physiotherapists will quickly increase the amount of load that is going into the injured tissue - this stimulates cellular healing and helps the injured tissue to restore itself, realign fibres and ultimately is helping increase the capacity of that tissue - our physios use progressive overload principles, heavy slow resistance, heavy isometrics and heavy isotonic exercise to stimulate healing.

Phase 3 - Increase energy storage and release.
